Career Path

Career Path is an intense training program that teaches complete IT skill sets to one of three groups: new college recruits, existing non-technical employees, and current IT employees. The program is designed to allow participants to “hit the ground running.” In addition to providing valuable new IT employees, Career Path also increases overall morale and loyalty within a company by offering career development to individuals.

LearnQuest offers Career Paths in the following categories: Mainframe Programming, Client/Server Development, Java Web Development, J2EE Enterprise Web Development with WebSphere or Weblogic, NT Administration, Unix Administration, C/Unix Programming, QA Testing, Data Modeling/Architecture, E-Commerce, Database Administration, and Business Analysis.

LearnQuest technical and educational consultants meet with Client IT, HR and Training staff to identify key strategic projects and initiatives, future architectural direction, and current staff skills. LearnQuest also analyzes current training resources, including E-Learning libraries and internal and external training resources.

Rationale:

The cost to recruit and develop programmers is 18% higher than recruiting and training for any other job. Companies pay an estimated $215,000 to recruit and mentor an entry-level programmer over a four-year period. With Career Path, a company will save at least $40,000 by internally recruiting and training entry-level IT employees.

Methodology:

Before beginning a Career Path, LearnQuest and the client carefully screen applicants using a third–party assessment tool and a rigorous interviewing process. This ensures that participants have the ability to successfully complete the Career Path training. Our goal is to identify employees with both the desire and ability to become IT professionals. During the selection process, LearnQuest also creates a curriculum tailored to meet the company’s needs. Training takes place over a 6 to 10 week period, depending on curriculum. As training ends, LearnQuest helps establish an internal mentoring system to ensure the Career Path students assimilate into the IT department.
